I was shocked when I read this article about reading books.
Here are a few of the facts I pulled...
I personally prefer non-fiction books and even more specifically business books. I'll be the first to admit that I don't always finish every book I buy. And I'll also let you know that I have probably not read 3 fiction books front-to-back in my entire life. But to not read anything at all is absolutely crazy!
I'm also the guy that has about 7 magazine subscriptions (again, all business mags). I think I may have crossed the line with the mag subs...I don't get them all read each month.
The main point that I would like to make is that I didn't used to be a book/mag reader. I read alot more now than I did in college (and I was supposed to be reading then). But, I find the amount of knowledge I gain by reading subjects of choice is unmeasurable. I literally apply some of the written wisdom into my life on a daily basis.
Anyhow, pick up a book on something you enjoy this week. You won't become less intelligent by doing so!
